Engraving is the act of destroying the surface of an object in order to create a pattern on it. Engraving techniques have been used to make beautiful and intricate jewelry since ancient times. With the advancement of technology, artisans switched from hand-carving to more convenient and faster methods, such as rotary engraving. Today, many modern jewelers use laser engraving. There are three main types of carvings: hand-engraving, rotary engraving, and laser engraving.
What is Laser Engraving?
Laser engraving is the process of using a laser beam to leave a permanent deep mark on the material. Unlike other more traditional methods, the heat of the beam melts and evaporates part of the material it is aimed at. What is left is a smooth, permanent engraving. Laser engraving is easily distinguishable because the laser burns the metal to darken it. There will be a color contrast between the surface of the material and the engraving, and we can easily see the engraving.
Will the Engraving Scratch off?
The durability of engraving on the outside of the ring depends on the durability of the metal itself. On softer metals, such as gold and silver, it is easy to scratch, and the lettering on the ring will inevitably wear out over time, but on hard metals such as tungsten, the lettering will not wear out because it is difficult to scratch the ring. As long as you wear the ring on your finger, no matter which metal you choose, the engraving in the ring will not wear out. If the engraving wears off, it means your skin is harder than metal, which is impossible.
What to Engrave on the Ring?
Some rings, pendants and bracelets in our shop have engraving services. We will engrave what you want on the inside of the ring or the back of the pendant, up to 12 letters. You only need to pay an extra $10 to get your personalized ring or a unique gift with temperature.
For yourself. When buying a ring for yourself, you can choose to engrave your name or initials on the ring to get your exclusive ring. You can also engrave a personal quote or favorite words, or any other words with exclusive meaning.
For your lover. If this is a gift for your lover, you can engrave your love for him, such as "I love you", "Always yours", "My true love", "Forever", "Eternity", "Forevermore". In this way, he can wear your love on his finger and feel your company all the time.
For your family members. If this is a gift for your father or son or other family members, you can also use lettering to express your love for him. For example, some customers engrave "Noble son", "Love Dad", "Mom’s hero" on the ring.
In addition, you can also engrave important dates (such as birthday or wedding date), special locations (such as G.P.S. coordinates) on the ring.
Some other lettering content for reference: "My Soulmate", "Belief", "Fearless", "Love always", "Your Girl", "Fear No Evil", "Forever Love", "To My Life".
Like any jewelry, engraved rings require daily care to maintain their luster. It is recommended to remove the ring during bathing, cleaning or makeup, because chemicals in cosmetics, bath products, and household cleaning products may make jewelry tarnish. Besides, you can often wipe your jewelry with a soft cleaning cloth, and do a deep clean with warm water and some mild soap once a week.
